VP: ACD Platform for Further Regional Interaction
First Vice President Mohammad Reza Rahimi on Wednesday urged member countries of Asia Cooperation Dialog (ACD) to pave the way for further regional interactions. Addressing the second day of the first ACD culture ministerial meeting underway in Tehran, Rahimi said expansion of regional interactions is aimed at development of member states, IRNA reported.
Rahimi added that cultural cooperation among the ACD members will prepare the ground for effective role in the cultural areas around the world. He expressed hope that the event would be a turning point in strengthening solidarity and friendship among the Asian nations. He then described Asia as a center of human culture and cradle of ancient civilizations.
Rahimi also met visiting Tajik and Kuwaiti culture ministers who are in Tehran to attend the ADD meeting.
In separate meetings, Rahimi stressed the need for further expansion of cooperation among ACD member states. He also called for more cooperation in all areas especially in various cultural fields with Tajikistan and Kuwait. The first culture ministerial meeting of the Asia Cooperation Dialogue started work in Tehran on Tuesday.
Representatives from 32 world states are present in the event enjoying the slogan of ‘Asia, a center of human civilization’. The ACD meeting is aimed at reviewing cultural interactions among member nations. The two-day event is also to review new proposals as well as draft of Tehran statement. The ACD was established in 2002 in Thailand and currently has 32 members.
